Victor Aguilar, Sr., cherished family man, avid golfer, and esteemed veteran, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on June 4, 1945, in Wigan, England, to Zaragoza Ortiz Aguilar, a dedicated military man, and Mary Rothwell, a spirited Irish redhead. Victor's early life was filled with the rich heritage of his diverse background. The family relocated to Ennis, Texas, when Victor was one year old. After his education, the family moved to Wilmer, Texas, where Victor's journey led him to the love of his life, Maria Medina. The couple married on December 3, 1964, and soon after, Victor joined the US Army, serving proudly from Fort Hood, Texas, and later in Nurnberg, Germany. His four years of military service were followed by a long and successful career as a truck driver, primarily around Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana until his retirement from Tom Thumb grocery in 2009. Victor's life was marked by his love for the outdoors, whether he was on the tractor mowing or at the golf course. The family enjoyed trips to the coast and Galveston with his children and grandchildren. Known for his impeccable golf swing, Victor once humorously scored a "bird-in-one," hitting a bird mid-flight, a story that became a favorite among his family. A man of many interests, Victor loved classic County music, old western movies, the humor of the Three Stooges, and every Ice Cube film. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten to those who knew him as a kind, independent, and generous man. He was a pillar in his family, always ready to lend a hand or share a wise word. His spirit, characterized by diligence, love and humor will forever remain a guiding light for his family.
