Terry Darnell

Reverend Terry Wayne Darnell, age 59, of Lancaster, Texas passed away on May 28, 2023. He was born in Dallas, Texas to James Henry and Evelyn Bernice (Jones) Darnell. Terry attended school and graduated from South Oak Cliff high school class of 1982. While in school he was a member of the ROTC and the debate team. After graduating he was employed by TXU energy as well as City of Dallas. Later,  he spent a short period in Nebraska working for Tyson foods. He found his passion in the food industry as a Quality Control Technician for 7-11 Corporation for 8 years. Terry was quiet unless a subject came up that he could debate. He met and married the love of his life, Carrie, in 2008 and together they had 11 children. His family was his everything. When he wasn’t working you could find him serving his Lord as the associate minister of Bexar Street Church in Dallas, Texas. Terry loved to grill and take his family camping in Cedar Hill. They enjoyed being outdoors and fishing on the lakes. Terry loved plants and had a very green thumb. His yard was always green. He enjoyed jazz, Christian music, and loved to sing.

Terry is preceded in death by his father James Henry Darnell.

He is survived by his wife Carrie Darnell of Lancaster, Texas; children: Isaiah Darnell, Travis Darnell, Ty Waddle, Phillip Waddle, Chezera Polk, Henderson Polk, Leslie Lopez, Christopher Richardson, James Richardson, Lacresha Richardson, and Chase Knutzen; mother Evelyn Bernice Pope ( Horace ); grandmother Daisy Jones; siblings: Vickie Bryant (Brandon ), P.J.  Darnell (Toni ) , Jarvis Darnell, and Debra Melton.

Visitation will be held on June 8, 2023 at Green Funeral Home Red Oak, Texas from 6-8PM.

A funeral service is planned for June 9, 2023 at Bexar Street Church in Dallas at 11 am with interment to follow at Laurel Land Dallas.

The family will be having a repast after graveside. It will be at the Tri-Plex Event Center located at 225 University Hills Blvd Dallas Texas 75241.
