Roy Salas, Sr., age 74 of Ferris, Texas passed away on September 23, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. Roy was born in Villa Vieja, Mexico on January 22, 1947 to Eulalio Salas and Maria Pedraza. Roy spent his time between Mexico and Texas as a young child. By the age of 18 Roy was drafted by the United States Marine Corps and served from February 28, 1966 to February 27, 1968. As a Marine he served in the Vietnam War and was ranked as Corporal. In that short time he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Upon returning home to Trumbull, Texas he met Mary Lou Moreno. They planted roots in Ferris, Texas for the last 49 years and welcomed four children: Mellissa, Roy Jr., Kris, and Heather. He spent 22 years with BAR Constructors working with some incredible guys. In his younger years, Roy enjoyed hunting at the deer lease with his buddies. As he got older, he looked forward to hanging out in his backyard cooking for anyone that wanted to stop by and visit. And he loved him some gambling and cigarettes!
Roy is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; his daughter Mellissa and husband Jaime, granddaughter Ariana, grandson Aaron, and granddog Jackie; son Kris and wife Jennifer “Boo”, granddaughters Kya and Kennedy, grandsons Kane and Michael, and daughter Heather all of Ferris, Texas; He is also survived by his sister Maria and husband Manuel of Cleburne, Texas and sister Aurora and husband Sam of Glen Rose, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his son Roy Salas, Jr.; parents Eulalio and Maria Salas; his brother Jesse Salas and nephew Mario Salas
Celebration of Life Service - September 29, 2021 visitation beginning at 9:00am at Green Funeral Home, followed by interment at Ferris Memorial Park North at 11:00am
