Nancy Swafford Obituary

Nancy Louise (Wright) Swafford, age 80 of Ferris, Texas passed away February 13, 2023 surrounded by her loving husband and family.  Nancy was born November 27, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Carl Wright, Sr and Dorothy (Potucek) Wright.   Growing up in a military family, she moved about in her early years from Galveston to Chicago, where she attended high school, and then back to Dallas.   She met the love of her life, Sherman Swafford, at a Texas Eagles game, now the Texas Rangers. They were married February 25, 1961 in Dallas, Texas and were blessed with 62 wonderful years as husband and wife.  After their marriage, Sherman joined the Navy and Nancy moved with him to California. He was then deployed on the USS Hancock, so she moved back to Dallas and began working at Adam Hats. Upon Sherman’s return from the Navy, they started their family and were blessed with three children. In 1974, they moved to Ferris making it their forever home. Nancy worked at Marilyn Belts and Bags and various other jobs, but homemaker and mother were by far her favorite. She and Sherman shared their love of baseball and travel; visiting Mount Rushmore, Four Corners, Niagara Falls and many other places making it to  49 of the 50 states. She had a huge heart and loved everyone. She loved to cook and always had way more kids at her house than her own. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Timothy Wright.
She is survived by her loving husband Sherman Swafford, Sr. of Ferris, Texas; son Sherman Swafford Jr. and wife Stacy of Ferris, Texas, daughter Sherrie Boone and husband Rick of DeKalb, Texas, and son Stoney Swafford and wife Debbie of Ennis, Texas; grandchildren: Shaw Swafford of Waxahachie, Texas, Morgan Farr and husband Alex of Waxahachie, Texas, Mason Swafford and wife Marian of Midlothian, Texas, and Cutter Swafford of Ennis, Texas; one great-granddaughter Harper June Farr; brothers: Carl Wright, Jr. of Stephenville, Texas and Robert “Tuffy” Wright and wife JoAnne of Plano, Texas.
