F. Lynne Porter

Frances Lynne Porter, known to all who loved her as Lynne, passed away at age 60 on June 22, 2022 in Ferris, Texas. Lynne was born in Dallas, Texas to the late Billy Lewis Porter and Mary Frances (Renfro) Evans. Lynne graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1980 and later moved to Balch Springs, Texas in 1991. Lynne loved music, and was a huge Bob Dylan fan. A collector of miniatures, Lynne built several beautiful custom doll houses over the years. She enjoyed building and fixing a great many things. She loved puzzles and was always a fierce competitor during game nights. Lynne loved animals, and would always help to take care of a stray dog or cat. She loved most dearly her dog Chloe, a Lhaso Apso, who stayed by her side for nearly twenty years. Lynne loved to travel when she could, and took several cross country road trips with family or friends, including a memorable trip to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

Lynne’s friends were an instrumental part of her life. Lynne’s family extends special gratitude to Cathy Stewart for being such a blessing in her life.

Most of all, Lynne loved to laugh and had a beautiful smile. She was best at comforting those she knew with a joke or funny story.  If someone needed a shoulder to cry on, Lynne would always be willing to share a drink and have a good laugh to cheer up those she knew. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Randy Porter.

She is survived by her only daughter Sarah Elizabeth Porter and son-in-law Major Travis McWhirter (USMC); grandchildren Emery, Annabelle, and Nolan McWhirter; sister Patti McDowell and brother Phillip Grogan, as well as host of nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends who will miss her dearly. 

A memorial service will be held for Lynne at Green Funeral Home in Ferris Texas on Tuesday, June 28th at 5:00pm.
