Doris Lee (Hutchings) Helton

Doris Lee (Hutchings) Helton, age 82 of Ferris, Texas passed away February 20, 2022. She was born October 27, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to the late Edward R. and Pearlie (Webb) Hutchings. She worked many years for the Postal Service as a clerk. Doris loved her family and was devoted to her children and grandchildren in every way. She loved to garden, always taking time to care for her flowers and veggies. Her love of travel and lighthouses went hand in hand, visiting every major lighthouse in the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Her favorite being Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Doris enjoyed several cruises over the years, Alaska was her favorite. She had a great sense of humor and always kept things lighthearted in conversation, never meeting a stranger and always having someone to talk to. She was always very over-the-top at holiday time decorating for Christmas which was her favorite time of the year. Her dressing will be missed at holiday meals as well as her love and enthusiasm of games: Dominos, Skipbo and Phase 10, just to name a few.

She is proceeded in death by her parents: Edward and Pearlie Hutchings; husband Jerry Helton; son Joe Menton; daughter Joyce Faye Menton and brother Charles Hutchings.

She is survived by son Eddie and wife Lisa Menton of Waxahachie, Texas; daughter Brandy and husband Rob Jones of Kailua, Hawaii; grandchildren: David and wife Miranda Clevenger of Sanger, Texas, Aaron and wife Amanda Clevenger of Texarkana, Texas, Kaiya Clark of Phoenix, Arizona, Nova Clark of Seattle, Aidan Jones of Missoula, Montana,, Washington; great-grandson Eli Clevenger; brothers: Dale Hutchings, Paul and wife Dorothy Hutchings, Jack and wife Vonda Hutchings and Jimmy Hutchings; sister-in-law Denise Hutchings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022 at Green Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Green Funeral Home, brother Mickey Moriarty officiating.

Interment will follow at the Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, Texas.
