Wanda Mae (Houston) Moon age 88 of Red Oak, Texas passed away December 29, 2023. She was born September 27, 1935 to Talmage and Jennie Bell (Reed) Houston in Dallas, Texas. She attended high school in Seagoville, Texas where she participated as a cheerleader and was a decorated ladies basketball player, winning numerous awards and acknowledgments. Wanda began her family and later moved to Ferris, Texas in 1967. She and husband Curtis Moon purchased and operated the Hi Ho the Dairy-O in Ferris, TX as well as skating rinks in Huntsville, Texas and Wilmer, Texas. She was a lifelong caregiver, always putting others first with her big heart. She loved hosting family holidays and gatherings that brought her whole family together. She loved children and absolutely adored her grandchildren. Wanda loved having them over to her house as often as possible. She will be missed by all when knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Talmadge and Jennie Houston; husband of 59 years Curtis David Moon and five siblings.
She is survived by her daughter Johnna and husband Paul Lugo of Red Oak, Texas; two grandchildren: Priscilla Vaughan and husband Drew David of Midlothian, Texas and Annie Vaughan of Ferris, Texas; eight great-grandchildren: Tristen Vaughan, Colten Vaughan, Clayton Vaughan, Dayton Cox, Austin Cox, Houston Cox, Brynlee Mendez and Skyler Holden; great-great-grandchild Ryan Palmer; brother Lance Houston of Crandall, Texas; sisters: Linda Baker of Crandall, Texas, Maureen Thomasson of Crandall, Texas and Carol Dixon of Bristol, Texas.
Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Crandall Church of Christ located at 209 S. Main St Crandall, Texas 75114
