Virginia Hammonds Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Lou (Greenlee) Hammonds, age 82 of Red Oak, Texas passed away on December 1, 2025. She was born December 7, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Marvin Benjamin and Ara Elizabeth (Brewer) Greenlee. After her education, she married and began her family; holding various jobs over the years, she was most proud of being a homemaker, keeping everything spotless with a schedule and determination all her own. Ginny lived many years on a farm in Boyd, Texas where she embraced her love of animals and the outdoors. She raised horses, cows, goats, chickens, and dogs, which she adored. She delighted in watching purple martins every season and tending to her Koi fish pond. She loved to travel, particularly in the camper with her husband Tim, who was her best friend and the love of her life. Together they exploring state parks, enjoyed fishing all over the country. Her home reflected her style and spirit, filled with Native American and Western décor, collections of frogs, rocks and gems, and her treasured John Wayne plates. She enjoyed crochet and had an eye for meaningful pieces that made her home uniquely hers. She loved the American flag and proudly displayed it. Ginny was loving and giving, funny and stubborn in the ways that made her unforgettable. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Ara Greenlee; husband Tim Hammonds; daughter Debbie Vines; brother Benny Greenlee and brother James Greenlee.

She is survived by her children: Leroy Moses, Vickie Erickson, Chris Moses and David Moses; 13 grandchildren: Timothy, Joshua, Tiffany, Jamin, Micah, Ashley, Kimberly, Austin, Gabi, Nathaniel, Dianna, Steven and Jonathon; 20 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
