Vickie King Obituary

Vickie Kay (Wickliffe) King was 69 yrs old when she passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, in Red Oak, TX. on June 24th, 2022. She was born in Dallas, TX on August 30th, 1952 to Alfred Wayne Wickliffe and Bertha Dean (Goff) Wickliffe and grew up in the Cockerell Hill area of Dallas. At 17 Vickie met the love of her life Harold Edward King Jr. At 18 they married at Cockerell Hill Baptist Church 2 doors down from her family home. Soon after began their family.  She also started working for Dr Jack Dean as a Dental Asst. and worked for him for 20 yrs till he retired. Vickie then wanted to travel with her husband, who was a truck driver. She even escorted for him with oversized loads. They traveled from coast to coast and many stops in between. Including as far North as Canada. She later went back into Dental Assisting for Dr Hobbs for another 10 yrs till she herself retired.
Over the years the family remembers many fun and exciting trips from spending almost every weekend of every summer at the lake on a boat, to the many snow skiing trips throughout the Winters. The family also remembers special trips to Graceland and The Grand Canyon as well as many trips to the Horse Races at Lone Star Park. She loved being outdoors and feeling the wind in her hair and the sun on her skin. That's why later in life you would find Vickie out back sitting underneath her covered patio twirling her hair and enjoying the outdoors. Here recently her trips were to Houston MDAnderson. Every three weeks she went on a new adventure. Shopping at the numerous gift shops in the hospital while exploring. Riding the tram through the sky bridge. Eating out at fun venues with live bands. Or getting a burger and a shake on the way so she could get to the hotel and curl up in the bed and relax before falling asleep. Vickie had a heart of gold and she loved her family. Being a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt, along with many other roles, she loved.
Vickie is preceded in death by her Parents  Wayne and Dean Wickliffe, her Sister and Brother-in-law Sandy and Dale Hughes, Great Nephew Zachary Cook, and many fur babies, the most recent Grandpup Luke. She is survived by her Husband Harold E King Jr., Daughter Amber Bishop, Son Carlton King, Grandchildren Nick Bishop, Tony Bishop, Chris Bishop II, Evelynn Bishop, Travis Bishop, and Great Grandson Roy Bishop. Nephew Nick Hughes, Niece Maranda Cook, Great Niece Abby Cook, and Great Nephew Dominic Cook, and Grandpups Pancho and Lefty.
