Thomas R. Gregory, age 86, of Red Oak, Texas passed away on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022. Born March 12, 1936, to the late Samuel and Carrie Gregory in Mer Rouge, Louisiana he was one of thirteen children. He grew up in a farming community picking cotton as soon as he was old enough to carry a cotton sack. After graduating from high school, he worked a short time in the oil fields before enlisting. Thomas served four years in the United Stated Marine Corps. He later moved to Texas and started work at the Dallas Police Department as a police officer. That is where he met the love of his life, Patricia. They went on to have a family before he retired from the Dallas Police Department after 29 dedicated years of service. From there Thomas worked for 10 years at the Dallas Sheriffs office as a bailiff in the courts before completely retiring. In his retirement years he enjoyed hunting and could often be found on a boat fishing or in the woods camping. He was a western movies buff and loved tinkering in the barn. He enjoyed country and western music. Thomas will be missed by all that knew him.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Gregory (Bailey); children: Jason Gregory, Nechia Fugate, Richard Gregory; grandchildren: Caleb, Lydia, Cora, Cheyenne; one sister Ellen Gregory as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 6-8pm at Green Funeral Home Red Oak, Texas.
Funeral Service will be at the DFW National Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 10:15am.
