Shirley Jeanine (Lusk) Bennett

Shirley Jeanine (Lusk) Bennett, age 68 of Ferris, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in March of 1952 in Dallas, Texas to the late Junious Haden and Bessie Florine (Wickliffe) Lusk. Jeanine attended school in Lancaster, Texas. She later met and married the love of her life Carl Bennett in Dallas, Texas. She worked as a manager for Safeway Foods in Irving, Texas for 17 years and served her community as a Barber at Jeanine's Barber shop in Ferris for 35 years before her retirement. As an animal lover, she rescued many dogs and cats over the years and always supported her children and grandchildren as they showed cattle and hogs in various stock shows and sporting events. She enjoyed several family trips to Cozumel, Mexico and cooking for her family, making homemade ice cream and eating watermelon. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Randy Lusk and sister Judy Lusk.

She is survived by her dedicated husband Carl Bennett of Ferris; children: Melanie Thornburg of Ferris, Carly and husband Thomas Loper of Ferris and Carl and wife Gabby Bennett, Jr. of Rowlett; grandchildren: Toxey Thornburg, Emilee Thornburg, Gage Swearingen, Wyatt Loper; siblings: Ronald Lusk, Patsy Lusk and Wayne Lusk.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday September 5, 2020 at 10am at Green Funeral Home, 207 S Wood St Ferris Texas 75125. Mask will be required while in the Funeral home.
