Sherry "Suzy" Shaffer Obituary

Sherry “Suzy” S. Shaffer, age 72 of Plano, Texas passed away October 27, 2023. She was born November 11, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Gilbert and Mildred (Littlepage) Long. She attended Bryan Adams High School in Dallas and later begin her family, she was blessed with four children. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and dart leagues, playing in numerous tournaments. She also worked at Cooper’s Western Wear at Towne East Mall. Later she begin working with Orkin Pest as an administrative professional. Suzy worked for Orkin 45 years until her retirement. She was known by all as “Sweet Suzy”, she was a family oriented woman, providing anything her children needed, sometimes having two jobs to do so. She loved shopping and attended many craft shows, and was an avid General Hospital fan, even traveling to Tennessee to see and meet the cast. She always supported her family, no matter what, even becoming an ordained minister to officiate her goddaughter’s wedding. She will truly be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Mildred Long; sister Lana Miller and brother Larry Arnold.
She is survived by her children: Anita M. Wright of Plano, Texas, Carolyn and husband Birney Baker of Palmer, Texas, Richard and wife Kim Christensen, III of Lonoke, Arkansas and Justin Shaffer of Eustace, Texas; nine grandchildren: April, Tiffany, Lance, Jonathan, Katie, Jacob, Khloe, Justin, Jr., and Charli; nine great-grandchildren: Drake, Kiley, Rileigh, Bella, Barrett, Riley, Timothy, Jo Jo, and Levi; brothers: Nicholas Arnold of Dallas, Texas and Alan Frey of Maine, as well as her loving Chihuahua Sugar.
