Sherri Kay (Rizley) McLendon

Sherri Kay (Rizley) McLendon, age 60, of Ferris, Texas passed away June 15, 2021. She was born September 17, 1960 in El Paso, Texas to the late Lowell D. and Neva Laverne (Smith) Rizley. Raised in a military family, they moved about often before settling in Quemado, Texas. Sherri graduated Eagle Pass high school in 1977 and as a single mother she started college and ultimately achieved her Masters Degree in Education from Sul Ross University. In 1988 she met the love of her life Jeffery McLendon; they were married in 1989. Together they took many memorable trips to New York, Pikes Peak, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Alaska and many road trips on their trike. She loved the mountains and outdoors. Sherri always maintained a creative spirit and had a passion for the arts: photography, painting, sewing and crochet just to name a few. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Neva Gates and brother Michael Rizley.

She is survived by husband Jeff McLendon; daughter Barbie and husband Jonathan Sills of Ferris, Texas; granddaughter Cheyenne Fitzgerald of Arlington, Texas; brother Robert Rizley of Poteet, Texas and her beloved fur babies: Odie and Bella; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.
