Severa R. Silvas, age 87 of Duncanville, Texas passed away June 19, 2021. “Vera”, as she was known by friends and family, was born February 1, 1934 to the late Miguel and Lousia Rivas in New Braunfels, Texas. She was one of 12 children blessed to this union. She later made her way to California where she lived near the beach and then onto New Mexico where she began her family. She was in her 40s when they moved to Texas, where she always said she was happiest. She loved her job as a seamstress, doing expert alterations for Neiman Marcus at the Flagship location in Downtown Dallas for more than 20 years, and was privileged to work one-on-one with many high profile clients over the years. After her retirement she continued her love of Dallas, enjoying many trips to the Dallas Arboretum, White Rock Lake and several other local day trip destinations. She enjoyed eating out at her favorite restaurants, especially La Madeleine and the Luby’s on Mockingbird Lane. She will be missed by all who knew her
She is preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings.
She is survived by daughter Anna Silvas of Duncanville, Texas; son Rueben and wife Renea Silvas of Semmes, Alabama; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
A memorial is planned in New Braunfels, TX at a later date.
