Ruthann (Hilmer) Dahlman-Meints

Ruthann (Hilmer) Dahlman-Meints, age 81, of Waxahachie, Texas passed away on March 24, 2025. She was born on July 26, 1943 in Denison, Texas to Edward Gus Hilmer and Willi Winburn. At a young age, Ruthann’s family moved to San Diego, California where she later graduated from an all-girls Catholic school. She married, started a family, and eventually moved to Minnesota. She returned to California and built a career as a bookkeeper. Later, she made her way back to Texas, where she continued her work in bookkeeping in the hospitality industry until her retirement. Ruthann had a jovial and contagious laugh. She was fiercely independent, witty, and unapologetically herself. A lover of old Hollywood, she enjoyed classic films, especially those featuring Dick Van Dyke and Alfred Hitchcock. She was a devoted fan of the Bee Gees and Cher, and she never missed a chance to dance—especially after a glass of Cold Duck. Her love for animals surpassed her love for some people, and she had a special fondness for Mickey Mouse and all things San Diego, where her heart always remained. She was a Leo through and through—bold, proud, and full of life. Ruthann was the life of family gatherings, always hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas with warmth and tradition. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Diet Coke, Skinny Pop, and her morning cup of Folgers coffee. The Wizard of Oz was one of her favorite movies, and in many ways, she embodied the heart, courage, and wisdom of its beloved characters. 

She is preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Willi Hilmer; sister Michelle Hilmer; husband Keith “Skeeter” Dahlman; and son-in-law Scott Charles Burnett.

She is survived by her daughter Doreen A. Burnett; granddaughter Sarah Ann Burnett and grandson-in-law Austin Solt; and great-grandson Gabriel Guerra.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1042 E. Woodridge Rd. Waxahachie, TX 75165.
