Roger William Chaney was born September 15, 1968 in Dallas, Texas to Mary Beard.
Survived by wife Sandra Gonzales Chaney and son Logan Chaney of Ennis, son John and wife Marisela of Palmer, daughter Kayela and husband Christopher of Ferris, father John Beard, brother Bill Chaney, brother Otis Chaney, brother Billy Joe Burns, sister Veronica Burns, five grandchildren; Daisha, Lil daddy (Christopher), Bri Bri (Aubrianna), Chance and Dallas, numerous nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his dear mother Mary Beard, his late father-in-law Manuel C. Gonzales and late mother-in-law Josie L. Gonzales.
Roger was an avid grill master frequently smoking briskets and chicken his late father-in-law would definitely be proud of. He was a skilled plumber and mechanic often saving the day for friends and family and an occasional client. He did construction jobs often and well. We called him a ‘jack of all trades’ and was ready to help anyone in need. Roger was known to drop everything to lend in a hand to anyone in distress at a moment’s notice.
Spending time with his family was his favorite pastime, sharing a cold one on the front porch or the lake. He loved to draw in his spare time. He was the life of the party telling the funniest stories and silly phrases as his wife recalls, “I’m so slick I could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves!”. All who knew him understood and appreciated his sense of humor.
Roger will always be remembered as having a heart of gold and a servant’s heart. He always admitted he was imperfect but surrounded himself with those that loved him beyond those imperfections. He loved Jesus and relied on his Faith often.
We will honor the memory of his well-lived life with each passing day and will always remember the things that made him the person he was to all who loved him.
His wife Sandra will meet him at their special place ‘under the bridge’ as they often promised each other.
Rest in Heaven, Roger - we will see you when we get there.
