Rodger Dale Chaney, age 76 of Ferris, Texas passed away July 16, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas on January 14, 1949 he was the son of Willie Eugene Chaney, Sr. and Eva Jane Jenkins. Rodger graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in 1968 and was soon drafted into the United States Army. On August 12, 1969 he married the love of his life, Wanda Fay Brown. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage filled with love and unwavering devotion. After his service in the Army, Rodger worked in maintenance at Purex before spending many years on the road as an 18-wheeler driver for Love’s Trucking, L.D. Brickman, and finally TXI Concrete, where he remained for 17 years until his retirement. Rodger was a race car enthusiast who spent over 30 years building, fixing, and racing cars. He had a personality all his own; straightforward, sharp-witted, and never one to sugarcoat the truth. Behind the sarcasm was a generous and loyal man who would do anything for his family. He was at every ballgame, every school event, video camera in hand, capturing every moment of his kids’ lives. Stubborn and petty at times, but he was also easy-going and deeply loving. Rodger leaves behind a legacy of grit, humor, and devotion. He will be missed by all who knew him.
