Robert Matheny Obituary

Robert Joseph Matheny, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in Massapequa, New York, Robert was a proud Marine, serving as a Peterbilt and tank mechanic for four years, including a stint in Okinawa.

Robert was known for his intelligence, ingenuity, and sense of humor. He could usually be found outside building or fixing things around his home, which he took great pride in building with his beloved wife Brenda, whom he met on January 30, 1999, where together they shared a life filled with joy and shared passions.

Always finding new ways to accomplish his goals with his own hands, Robert delighted in learning new skills and spending time with the people most important to him. Memories of summer evenings spent fixing and riding four-wheelers with his grandchildren until the sunset will never be forgotten. His ability to connect with people and his dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on those around him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Matheny and Audrey DeFrancisco, and his brother Christopher Matheny.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bohannon; his sons: Bradley Matheny and Christopher J. Eyssallenne Sr., girlfriend Kayela Dee Ann Chaney; his grandchildren: Christopher J. Eyssallenne Jr., Aubrianna Marie Eyssallenne, and Dallas James Eyssallenne; and finally, a beloved African Grey parrot named R.B.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, September 13th from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Green Funeral Home - Red Oak.
