Robbie McKay Obituary

Robbie Louis McKay, age 100, passed away  peacefully at home on March 15, 2026 in Dallas, Texas. Robbie was born at home on December 16, 1925 in India, Texas, the third son of John Harley McKay and Ila Mae Moyers McKay. Robbie was a veteran of the Army Airforce.  He went into the Army Airforce at age 18, and trained in a B-17 as a tail gunner.  Robbie was at the post of embarkation for the Pacific theatre when WWII ended in 1945.  Returning home after WWII, Robbie briefly attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Robbie was a member of the Church of Christ in Ferris, Texas where he met his future bride, Marilyn Newton.  They Married on February 12, 1948. They moved to Dallas in 1956 where he worked as a furniture salesman, Union Carpenter, Machinist and was trained as an Electron Beam Welder. Robbie served as a deacon at the Beckley Heights Church of Christ in Dallas in the late 70's.  He spent several years working with the church's new bus ministry, helping it get started. One story he often told was how he and his brother, Jamie had to beg their father to buy a tractor so they wouldn't have to plow with mules anymore. Robbie's childhood was spent on the family farm where they raised onions and pigs. He always had wonderful memories of spending time with his many cousins and family friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Newton McKay, his parents, brothers, Donald W. McKay, J.H. McKay and James David McKay and one sister Peggy Sue Battagliola and step-granddaughter, Angela Searcy Gaul along with many friends and relatives.

He is survived by his three children, Larry N. McKay and his wife Karen of Hutchins, Texas. Judy Perkins and her husband Ken of Yukon, Oklahoma and son Stephen McKay of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Robbie has eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Grandchildren include, Douglas, Dayna, Jeremy, Kerry, Holly, Kenny and Zac. Great grandchildren include, Jackson, Colton, Jesse, Mia, Levi, Bailey, Carter, Henry, Stockton, Ella, Zachery and Naomi.

 

Visitation will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 20, 2026 at Green Funeral Home - Ferris, Texas.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 PM Friday March 20, 2026 at Green Funeral Home - Ferris, Texas.

Graveside Service to follow at Ferris Memorial Park North.
