Rickey Crenshaw was born August 14, 1957 to George Crenshaw and Dorothy Sport in Dallas, Texas. He was the youngest of 6 children. The best way to describe Rickey is to talk about his giving heart. He was always helping people and taking care of others. He had worked construction for over 50 years and was skilled in doing almost anything for home remodeling. He never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. With out a doubt if you were in trouble, he was the person to call, because he would always be there.
The joke he always said was, "that he never worked a day in his life". The problem wasn't his work ethic, but how he was paid for that work. He did so much for others never looking to make money, but rather help his friends, family, or projects. When he was told about how his granddaughter was going to show both swine and steers, he was so excited and wanted to help her achieve her goals just like he did when he won Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in 1972. He showed up with a bunch of pallets and scrap metal and fastened a barn for her to house her animals in.
The play "12 Angry Men" will not be the same without him. He was set to be apart of the show again as casting had just finished and rehearsals were about to start. He loved being in plays at the Ennis Public Theatre and then Theatre Rocks in Ennis. He volunteered not only to be an actor, but also set designer for over the last 10 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents George Sr. & Dorothy Crenshaw, sisters Georgia Cloud and Nina Combs, and several friends.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Crenshaw, Son Jason & Leslie Crenshaw along with Grandkids Taylor and Alex of Ferris, Daughter Julie & Corey Nunn along with her grandpups of Red Oak, Brother and Sisters George & Linda Crenshaw, Kenneth Crenshaw, Betty Hollinger along with numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
