Richard Wayne Martin, age 61 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away on August 27, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1964 in Dallas, Texas to Obie Martin and Barbara Akers. Richard grew up in Mesquite and graduated from Lake Highlands High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy for two years. A lifelong car enthusiast, Richard especially cherished his 1969 GTO Judge, and he also collected model cars amassing a remarkable collection of 103 pieces. His love for automobiles extended into his career, as he worked for NAPA Auto Parts for nearly 20 years in various roles and locations, most notably at the Coppell store, where he built many lasting relationships. Known for his reliability and steady presence, Richard was someone you could always count on. He had a dry sense of humor that those close to him loved, and he was a guiding influence in the lives of his family especially to his niece Jessica, to whom he was like a second father. Richard’s legacy is one of loyalty, quiet humor, and steadfast love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Obie and Barbara Martin.
He is survived by his brother Jackie Martin; niece Jessica and husband Matthew Pickett; great-nieces: Kayla Pickett and Meadow Pickett.
