Raymond Carl Nettles, age 84 of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2025. He was born on July 30, 1940 in Royse City, Texas, to Walter Roy Nettles and Ina Lorene Monk. After graduating from Royse City High School in 1958, Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for four years, stationed in Germany with the tank division. Upon returning home, he married Nancy Talkington in the early 1960s and pursued his education at Sam Houston State, earning an associate degree in criminal justice. He then joined the Dallas Police Department, serving from 1968 to 1973 before transitioning into business, running Talkington Construction, working for Tony Maples Chevrolet, and later National Lloyds Insurance. Following the passing of his first wife, Raymond returned to law enforcement in 1982 and soon after married Linda Kay Snavely in July of that same year. He served as a patrol officer before working with the ATF and DEA, from which he ultimately retired. To finish up his professional career he served as Police Chief of Ferris for a short time. Raymond was a man of deep faith who loved life and never met a stranger. He had a mischievous sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a prank, and he brought joy to every gathering. He cherished time with his grandchildren, whether playing, laughing, or sharing his love of woodworking. He was happiest when surrounded by family—at the pool, the lake, or celebrating birthdays. A skilled cook, he took pride in his signature chili and loved grilling and barbecuing for those he loved. Raymond’s life was defined by his devotion to family, his strong work ethic, and his ability to make every moment count. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
