Peggy Sue (McKay) Battagliola, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. She was born May 24, 1932 in Kaufman, Texas. She entered the world in the old family farmhouse, her birth paid for with a cow, setting the tone for a life that was humble and spirited. Peggy Sue was the daughter of John Harley McKay and Ila Mae Moyers. Her family later settled in Ferris, Texas where she graduated from Ferris High School. Just three months after graduating, she married and began a life centered around love and family. She was the proud mother of three beautiful daughters and a grandson who were the joys of her life. Throughout her professional career, Peggy Sue worked in medical claims administration, advancing through her field with determination and professionalism. She was known for her quick wit, her playful attitude, and a love for good conversation and games. Peggy Sue lit up every room she entered. Her love for dancing and socializing was only matched by her deep loyalty to her family and friends. She maintained lifelong friendships and made new ones with ease. Her ability to handle life’s challenges with grace and a smile was a hallmark of her character. Peggy Sue lived in several places across the country including Torrance, California and Lake Havasu, Arizona where she owned and operated a deli with her husband. She enjoyed traveling, taking a memorable trip to the Mediterranean and vacations to Mexico with her close circle of friends. She made it a point to return to Texas each year to visit her family and reconnect with her roots. Peggy Sue also had a soft spot for animals, especially her beloved small dogs, whom she often carried in her purse. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her charm and unshakeable spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Ila Mae McKay; husband Martin Leon O’Shea; husband Edward Warterfield and husband Harry Luigi Battagliola.
She is survived by daughters: Cathey Lynne and husband Richard Amberry, Suzanne Gray, and Annalisa Litton; grandson Joseph and wife Michelle Catalano; great-grandson Joey Catalano; and brother Robbie McKay.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Green Funeral Home -Ferris, Texas.
Funeral Service will be 12:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Green Funeral Home -Ferris, Texas. Pastor Ben Weiss Officiating.
Burial to follow at Ferris Memorial Park North -Ferris, Texas.
