Ophelia (Crossley) Pool

Ophelia Odene (Crossley) Pool, age 88 of Ferris, Texas passed away Friday, December 18, 2020. She was born May 2, 1932 to the late George and Vennie (Williams) Crossley in Now York, Texas. In high school, she was ladies basketball captain for the La Poynor Flyers, graduating in 1949. She moved to Dallas in 1950 and later met the love of her life Nathan Pool. Their first date was a concert to see Elvis Presley at the Cotton Bowl in 1956. They were married 50 years. Ophelia worked in banking at Republic Bank in Dallas as a teller, supervisor and on to loan officer until her retirement in 1991 from Bank of America in Hutchins Texas. She was a long-time member of the Ferris Baptist Fellowship where she loved her church family and served as treasurer for many years. Over the years she made countless quilts for her family and friends, always making sure any new babies had one of her handmade baby quilts. Ophelia loved being with and spending time with her family and cooking wonderful holiday meals. She learned to cook at a very early age on the family farm in Henderson County, Texas. She was very picky about ingredients and always made sure everything was just perfect. These memories will be treasured by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Nathan Pool; son Clay Pool and three siblings.

She is survived by her dedicated daughter Donna and husband Steve Lane of Ferris; grandsons: Shaun Lane of Ferris and Dee Lane of Hutchins; brother John Crossley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. 

Serving as honorary pallbearers are nephews: Danny Crossley, David Crossley, Thad Briggs, John David Crossley, Dixon Moreland, Gale Wells, Louis Moeller, Chester Moeller; family friends: Ricky Walker, Brent Hazard, Steve Wright and Steve Rhodes; church family: Scott Born, Travis Born, Deon Grandon, Bryan Merritt and Gary Stevens.

Open Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday, December 28, 2020 at Green Funeral Home. Mask Required.

Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Ferris Memorial Park North, Ferris, Texas. Pastor Bob Mashburn officiating.
