Michael Preston Chandler, age 72, of Red Oak, Texas passed away April 10, 2025. Born in Dallas, Texas to Charles Preston Chandler and Birdie Jo Cunningham, he graduated from Sunset High School, where Michael played football and enjoyed the camaraderie of his teammates. He later attended Mountain View College before serving his country during the Vietnam era as a member of the U.S. Army Military Police, stationed in Germany. After his military service, Michael worked alongside his father as a skilled carpenter in the construction business. It was during this time he met the love of his life Kathy J. Brunson. The two married on August 29, 1977 in Dallas, Texas and celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built not only a home in Red Oak, Texas with their own hands—but also a legacy of love, laughter, and family. In 1991, Michael began working for the Trinity River Authority (TRA), where he served as a senior operator. Michael was known for his quick wit and the special nicknames he lovingly created for everyone, especially his grandchildren, each of whom held a unique place in his heart. He had a lifelong love of baseball, fostered by his father, and he never missed an opportunity to read a baseball magazine, track stats, or collect trading cards. Some of the family’s fondest memories include vacations to Virginia, Florida, Myrtle Beach, and the mountains—where Michael loved hiking, relaxing, enjoying life’s quieter moments. Music was another constant in his life, with Joe Walsh being his all-time favorite artist. Michael’s laid-back spirit, gentle humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will be missed. A life well lived, a man deeply loved and taken too soon from his family—Michael P. Chandler will be remembered always.
