Melvin Ray Mullins

Melvin Ray Mullins, age 86 of Dallas, TX, passed away August 21, 2020 surrounded by his loving and dedicated family. He was born in April of 1934 to the late Bill and Gertrude (Redden) Mullins in Palmer, TX. A lifelong resident of the area, he worked in the brick yards of Ferris, TX from the age of 14 until his retirement from Boral Bricks in Carrollton, TX. He served our Country in the US Army National Guard of Texas achieving the rank of Sgt E-5 and played guitar in a local VFW band. He is remembered for his strong work ethic, never missing a day of work; his sharp memory and management skills of scheduling and production propelled his success in the brick industry. Over the years he loved visiting Big Bend National Park and telling all his stories of the good 'ol days or playing his favorite songs on his guitar. 

He is preceded in death by parents Bill and Gertrude Mullins, wife Shirley JoAnn Mullins in 1979 and second wife Vickie Mullins in 1996, daughter Linda Diane Spence, son Dennis Mullins and brother Billy Mullins.

He is survived by his loving children: Barbara Psencik of Dallas, Donny Ray Mullins of Dallas, Michael Mullins of Granbury, Carolyn Woodruff of Paris, Sandy Drinkwine of Garland, Stacy Hallmark of Midlothian, Richard Mullins of Houston, Sheri Hallmark of Midlothian, Billy Joe Mullins of Dallas, Keri Rains of Dallas and Sydnee Shawver of Kemp; grandchildren: Amanda Chamberlain, Tasha Raz, Cody Joe Raz, Ryan Mullins, Brooke Mullins, Kara Bellow, Bailee Adams, Rylee Adams, Kristen Spence, Mary Spence, Kim Spence, Amy Spence, Corey Spence, Glenda Hardeage, Kyle Armstrong, Kevin Day, Trey Conaway, Rick Neal and Zach Neal; great-great granddaughter Ellie Shawver and many other extended family members and friends. 

Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Green Funeral Home. Mask Required.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Green Funeral Home. Mask Required. Pastor Michael Masek officiating. 

Interment: 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Ferris Memorial Park North.
