Melanee Wilhelm Obituary

Melanee Mabel (Becker) Wilhelm, age 66, of Ferris, Texas, passed away on January 31, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1958, in Riverside, California, to William Melvin Becker and Opal Eileen Davis. Mel, the youngest of five siblings, was lovingly regarded by her family as “the special one.” She grew up with a love for the outdoors, playing freely as a child and always looking up to her older sisters. Despite losing her mother at an early age, she faced life’s challenges with strength and an unshakable sense of humor. Melanee found joy in simple moments, like watching the Hallmark Channel with her sister, “just calling to say hi” to loved ones, and enjoying her favorite TV shows, Blue Bloods and The Big Bang Theory. She had a lifelong love for animals and was known for taking in every stray that came her way. As a mother, Melanee was a steadfast presence, deeply involved in her children’s lives. She was their biggest cheerleader, offering unwavering love and support in everything they did. She never missed a play, game, or concert in which her children participated, and became an avid football fan by watching their marching band performances. She cheered for the LSU Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys, embodying her love for both her family and the Texas home she made. Melanee was raised in the LDS faith and later rededicated her life to the church, attending every sermon she could with her sister Carolyn. Her adventurous spirit took her across the country and the globe, and she carried pieces of those adventures with her—her love for snorkeling, Reggae music, and even cliff diving from her years in Jamaica. With a natural gift for connecting with others, Melanee never met a stranger, forming fast and lasting friendships wherever she went. Her professional life was also marked by dedication, kindness, and reliability. Beloved by customers and coworkers alike, she had a special talent for making people feel seen and cared for. A thoughtful gift-giver and exceptional gift-wrapper, Melanee made Christmas magical with pristinely adorned presents and heartfelt, personal touches she included in every gift - though she only had one thing on her wish list every year: world peace. Melanee’s kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and an endless ability to make others feel special. Though she has left this world, her kindness, laughter, and devotion to her loved ones will live on in the many lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Opal Becker and sister Sue Ann McCulloch.

She is survived by her son Isaac Joseph Wilhelm of Fort Worth, Texas, daughter Zoe and husband Cullen Crochet of Metairie, Louisiana; sister Carolyn Williamson, brother Paul and wife Connie Becker and brother Steven and wife Pam Becker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
