Mary Margaret (Bright) Patterson

Mary Margaret (Bright) Patterson, age 78, of Red Oak, Texas passed away November 2, 2021. She was born March 2, 1943 in Hope, Arkansas to the late James Marcus and Ava Lula Bell (Ratliffe) Bright. She grew up in Genoa, Arkansas and the family later moved to Comanche, Texas and finally to Red Oak, Texas in 1982. She was Cafeteria Manager for the Red Oak Independent School District for 25 years. She was a natural caregiver, always helping where she could and giving of herself in many ways: baking delicious biscuits, cleaning for others and even willing to wash, dry and lovingly fold your laundry. Her true passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spoiled them rotten to the best of her ability, attending all of their events: baseball, football, dance and kept the kids every chance she could when parents were working. Her family recalls special trips to destinations including New Mexico and Colorado. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James Bright, Hiram Bright, Jerry Bright and Everett Bright; Son-in-law Mark Sorenson.

She is survived by her children: daughter Beth Sorenson of Irving, Texas, son Joel and wife Traci Patterson of Nebraska, daughter Teresa and husband Bill Pippen of Irving, Texas, son Snoopy and wife Cathy Patterson of Red Oak, Texas and Jeremy and wife Tobie Patterson of Red Oak, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Patsy and husband Dale Robertson of Hugo, Oklahoma and brother Author Bright of Ashdown, Arkansas.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2021 at Green Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Green Funeral Home with Justin Patterson officiating. 

Interment will follow at Bells Chapel Cemetery, Rockett, Texas.

Pallbearers: Justin Patterson, Jeremy Patterson, Zackery Sorenson, Brandon Pippin, Trey Northcutt, Stephen Hansen.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jett Patterson and David Hansen.
