She was born January 6, 1921 in Dallas, Texas to Emil Matt and Marie Lillian (Kopecky) Pokladnik; she was the eldest daughter of seven siblings and attended Forest Avenue High School in Dallas. She later met the love of her life, John William Kubin, at a Polka dance in a Czech music hall. As she walked his way, he told a friend, "That is the girl I will marry." She liked going to Las Vegas as well as playing the slots at the casinos in Oklahoma and enjoyed the Dallas Symphony as well as the Shen Yun Performing Arts program. She also enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing. Her cooking will be missed, from her Czech pastries to her paprika chicken and other favorite dishes. She had a subtle and dry sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
