Marilyn Abbinett Obituary

Marilyn Sue (Long) Abbinett, a beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at the age of 71.  Born on February 4, 1953, in Plano, Texas, to Clara and P.E. Long, Marilyn lived a life full of love, dedication and joy.

Marilyn attended Wylie High School, where she proudly graduated as a member of the Fighting Pirates, Class of 1971.

Following graduation, Marilyn embarked on a long and fulfilling career.  She dedicated over 30 years of service to Texas Power & Light (TP&L), TU Electric, and later joined Tenaska Power Services, where she worked until her retirement in 2011.

In 1974, Marilyn met the love of her life, Brad Abbinett, at the Debonair Danceland in Dallas, Texas. They married soon after and shared a beautiful life together. The couple was blessed with two daughters, who were the center of Marilyn's world.

She was a homebody who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, her favorite being spending time with her family.

Marilyn's love for her family was evident in everything she did and her two daughters, Salena and Tiffany, will undoubtedly carry on her legacy of love and devotion. She has now joined her beloved Brad in eternal peace, and her family takes comfort in knowing they are together again.

Marilyn was known for her fun-loving spirit, quick wit, generosity and willingness to help others.  And, as a result, made many lifelong friendships.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Brad Abbinett; parents Clara and P.E. Long; and brother-in-law Joe Kubon.

She is survived by her two daughters Salena and Tiffany Abbinett of Red Oak, Texas; sister Darlene Kubon of Wylie, Texas; mother-in-law Betty Abbinett of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister-in-law Debbie Yeager of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nephew Chad Yeager, his wife Petra and their daughter Julia of Germany; as well as numerous other extended family members and friends.
