Maria Luisa Mata, age 64, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Maria was born in August of 1955 in Saladillo, Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Franklin Duenas and Soledad Escareno. The third child of 15 siblings, she helped her parents with raising and caring for her brothers and sisters. A creative and talented seamstress, she is remembered for taking a single shirt and making two dresses out of it for her sisters. She also lovingly knitted blankets for each of her 14 grandchildren. As the family caregiver, she was a mother figure to not only her siblings and her own children, but to all of her nieces and nephews and was God Mother to 40 children. She loved hosting and preparing holiday meals for her family and passionately loved music and dancing in her 6 inch stiletto heels. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Victorio Mata and three infant siblings: Juan Jose, Marco Antonio and Maria.
She is survived by her loving children: Jose Francisco and wife Belky Becerra of Arlington, Elisa and husband Juan Cano of Lancaster and Erika Becerra of Lancaster; 14 grandchildren: Tabatha, Martin, Brian, Erik, Emily, Celeste, Alejandro, Phoebe, Juanita, Aiden, Bella, Juan, Christian and Maeriel; siblings: Rebecca, Maria Dolores, Rosa Maria, Cecilio, Reyes, Juan, Isidro, Maria De Jesus, Antonio, Maria De Refugio; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the family home: 1700 Bear Creek Rd, Lancaster, Texas 75146 with Rosary at 7:00 PM
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church: 1537 Rogers Ave, Lancaster, Texas 75134 with burial to follow at Ferris Memorial Park North, Ferris, Texas.
