Margaret Estelle (Felps) Howard, age 85 of Denison (or Ennis), Texas passed away peacefully in the night on July 28, 2025.
She was born August 6, 1939 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Monroe & Clora Felps.
Margaret graduated from High School in Fredericksburg, TX. After graduating high school, she relocated with her family to Houston where she became an active young member of Minnetex Baptist Church. One church visitation evening became a life impacting moment when she and three friends were knocking on doors. There, she met the young man who would one day become the love of her life, Lowell Howard.
Lowell & Margaret’s faith and deep devotion to God was completed in their lifelong commitment to one another which blossomed into a marriage that has stood the test of time. They richly blessed with their three children Anita, Michael, and Glenn.
Margaret was a woman of unwavering pure faith. She viewed the world with simplicity and conviction, living her life with consistent purpose, and integrity as a supportive pastor’s wife. She stood faithfully by her husband’s side through 66 years of pastoral ministry, serving not only as his partner in life but also in service to countless church communities. Her heart was especially drawn to children’s ministry. Whether teaching preschoolers, leading Sunday School, or lovingly caring for little ones in her own home, Margaret’s patience and joy made her a natural with children.
Margaret was also incredibly creative and talented. Over the years, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and painting. Her artistic hands brought beauty and warmth into the lives of others.
Music was woven into the fabric of Margaret’s entire life; she always had a song in her heart and often on her lips. She found and expressed joy in singing along with Lowell to hymns and gospel favorites throughout her lifetime. She even sang many the songs of her faith on her last day on this earth as her sister Bonnie sang “This Little Light of Mine” and Margaret began singing with her! Then she sang along with “When We All Get to Heaven”, “I Love to Tell the Story”, and “How Great Thou Art” ... She even clapped her hands together as she joined in singing “I’ll Fly Away”!
Though her physical body was so very weak and fading, Margaret’s joy in the Lord and the strength of her spirit was very much alive and even growing stronger as she drew closer to Heaven.
Margaret will be remembered for her faith, her strength, her years selfless service, and her loyalty to family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the enduring example she set as a faithful supportive wife.
She was greeted in Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by her parents, Monroe and Clora Felps, and by many relatives & friends who headed to Heaven before her, then by a Heavenly host of new brothers and sisters in Christ!
Her life’s lessons and memories will be carried on in her husband Lowell Howard; daughter Anita & husband Matthew Linquist; son Michael & wife Carol Howard; and son Glenn Howard; by her 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her dear sister Bonnie & husband David Foster.
