Dr. Lowell C. Howard Born June 24, 1938 in Houston, TX and was greeted into Heaven early in the morning Oct. 9, 2025.
Lowell was born in Houston Texas, where he graduated High School 1957. He trusted Jesus Christ as His Lord, and met his wife, Margaret.
Lowell and Margaret were married in 1959 and spent their lives in full time ministry! They were blessed with three children, Anita, Michael, and Glenn, with 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren!
Lowell earned his BA degree from Houston Baptist University in Christianity and Speech. His Masters and Doctorate degrees were earned through Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Theology, Counseling, and Ministry. Lowell was trained in counseling, pastoral counseling, and family consultation, and assisted any and all who came seeking help as a part of his ministry for the Lord.
Lowell always held missions for Christ as his priority in life! He began his ministry by working in outreach through music, youth, and preaching in local churches and revival meetings. For fifteen and a half years he produced and preached weekly over KHCB Christian radio in Houston, and later through radio in Jasper TX, Crowley TX, and in Louisiana that each openly presented Bible messages and instruction for life’s journey.
His personal ministries were expanded to take preaching to Hispanic audiences in Texas and in Mexico where he helped to lead programs for evangelism, church planting, and church building.
Lowell taught evangelism seminars at the church and the associational levels, and he worked with blind persons, producing taped educational materials that they could use in preparing to teach Sunday School or to preach through the Christian Education for the Blind of Fort Worth TX.
Lowell served as Senior Pastor in nine churches as well as a vocational evangelist for five years and many years as Chaplain for various municipal organizations, AA Chapters, blue collar factories, and corporate companies for a total of 66+ years in full time ministry.
Preaching and singing took him into many states and several countries. Lowell was called on often for public speaking along with humor for countless churches, service clubs, fraternal organizations, college and seminary classrooms, and businesses.
While pastoring in Westlake, Louisiana, Lowell ministered to seafarers while their ships were in the inland port of Lake Charles. Lowell was welcomed aboard ships, conversed with captains on down to the vessel’s lowest ranking laborers, always encouraging them through counsel... and very often helping them through difficult moments in their own lives.
Throughout his time on this earth, utilizing his sense of humor and laughter Lowell added new dimensions to ministry by presenting his humor, music, and proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to countless groups, families, and individuals who were encouraged to also commit their lives to serving Christ.
He has authored articles in print and on email that present biblical truths in a readable format that now number more than 1200 – he sent out daily devotions five days a week to points around the globe and forwarded to on to countless readers.
Lowell personally wrote many books, one of which is entitled, “When You Join the Church,” which is being used in many churches in several states as a new member tool for education and training believers to understand from a spiritual perspective. Lowell’s latest book to date was published on September 29, 2023 and is available on Amazon, which details his life of ministry called, “Speedbumps of the Mind and Soul: Stories in Ministry”. Lowell has 7 to ten books, including that may still be published and available over time including, “Pebbles of Truth and Wisdom for Your Foundation” (which includes some of his poetry), “10 Steps to Place You”, “Faith Is...”, “Reflections - Speed Bumps”, “Sincerely God”, “Sincerely God - 2”, “Logarithms of Faith”, “Eye of the Storm”, and several others. Lowell was also the ghost writer of 6 published books, meaning he wrote the books while well-known professors & pastors added their notes for publication under their own names.
Lowell spent his entire life utilizing his time, talents, every waking moment, all the way to his final breath, purely, faithfully, to the best of his ability, encouraging and pointing people to Jesus. He documented his journey so that his impact for Christ could continue long after his own body stopped functioning... his impact on this world is being carried on in the lives of countless believers, ministers, and ministries that were planted, tilled, and watered by Lowell’s life, and they will continue to bear fruit for Christ until Jesus returns for us all!
The “Celebration of Life” for Dr. Lowell C. Howard will be held at the Cowboy Church of Ennis, Ennis TX on Friday, October 17 at 1pm.
Internment will follow at the New Chatfield Cemetery where Lowell’s body will be placed next to his wife Margaret, who entered Heaven only three months prior... together once again, Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
