Larry Weisdorfer Obituary

Larry Robert Weisdorfer, Age 80 passed away February 20, 2022. He was born December 16, 1941 in Lamar, Colorado to Lawrence and Zelma Grace (Hirschler) Weisdorfer. Larry was incredibly hard working with a strong work ethic.  While in high school in Arvada, CO Larry started learning the plumbing trade by working with his dad. While living in Eads in the late 60's he worked as a plumber and also worked on oil rigs outside of Eads. Larry later moved his family back to Denver and continued working as a plumber.  He earned his apprentice license and then his  journeyman's license in January 1972 while working for Bell Plumbing and Heating.  This was a very proud accomplishment for him! He started Weisdorfer Plumbing and Heating in 1974 and ran a very successful business servicing the rural communities in and around Byers, Colorado, where he built a home, later moving his business to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1982
Larry met Ginny while living in Steamboat in 1986, they moved to Calhan, CO and were married on April 2, 1988. They settled in Colorado Springs and Larry continued working as a plumber.  In August 1994, he joined the Local Union of Plumbers and Pipefitters. In his later years Larry worked at DIA as a truck driver and most recently as a security guard where he walked miles a day on his watch.
Larry loved to serve others and his community.  He was a volunteer fire fighter for many years, a trained volunteer EMS, and was even deputized as a police volunteer in Calhan, CO.  He was so proud of that badge!!
Larry loved his family fiercely!  He supported his kids and grandkids in everything they ventured into!  He was a band dad, a little league football coach and the biggest cheerleader at track meets, basketball games, wrestling tournaments, football games and on and on!
Larry loved being outdoors, whether it was fishing and camping and proudly working in his impeccable yard with Ginny. One of his favorite things was the elaborate decorations he would put up in his yard at Christmas. When Jim and Christy lived down the street, there was a "friendly" competition between Larry and Jim to see whose yard was better!
Larry loved to dance! He and Ginny would go dancing often!  He enjoyed water skiing, downhill skiing, and playing softball throughout his younger years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Zelma Grace Weisdorfer; daughter Larice Johnson; grandson Jacob Wuckert; sister Joyce Weisdorfer; brother Donald Weisdorfer; sister Louise McCrary and sister Jean Nordick.

He is survived by loving wife Virginia “Ginny” (Shepherd) Weisdorfer of Ferris, Texas; daughter Lynette Moritz (Paul) of Thornton, Colorado; son John Wiechman (Leslie) of Ferris, Texas; son Jim Weisdorfer (Christy) of Princeton, Texas and son Patrick Weisdorfer (TBD) of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother Danny Weisdorfer (Lois) of Eads, Colorado
