Larry Joe Chandler, age 66 of Ferris, Texas passed away December 14, 2024. Larry was born on April 11, 1958 in Longview, Texas to Harold Austin Chandler and Winnie Sue Hawkins. Larry learned to weld at Longview high school and began working at Lonestar Steel Company in Lonestar, Texas. He then worked for a construction company remodeling Walmart stores. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. This led him to various administrative roles, where he put his skills to use. Through a mutual friend, Larry met the love of his life, Cindy, and their connection grew through years of heartfelt letters as pen pals. They were married on May 14, 2016, shortly after moving to Ferris, Texas, where they built a happy life together. At heart, Larry was a big kid who loved to laugh and never missed an opportunity to bring joy to those around him. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with small projects around the house, and riding his lawnmower in the yard—a simple pleasure that brought him peace. A lover of Southern rock ‘n’ roll, Larry often found himself reminiscing and laughing with his close friends from childhood and high school, relationships he cherished deeply. Larry was a man of kindness, humor, and authenticity—a good, all-around individual who made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Naomi Chandler; parents: Harold and Winnie Chandler; sister Donna Sue Lear and nephew Buddy Lear, Jr.
He is survived by loving wife Cindy Chandler; brother-in-law Buddy Lear, Sr.; nephew Jacob Lear and great-niece Nalani Lear.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date.
