Kevin Philbin Obituary

Kevin Ray Philbin, age 52 of Red Oak, Texas passed away on August 2, 2024. He was born on April 11, 1972 in El Paso, Texas to Paul Albert Philbin, II and Tommie Mae Prather. Kevin’s father was a fireman and the family moved frequently with various job opportunities before moving to Arlington, Texas where Kevin completed his education, later settling in Red Oak, Texas. Kevin’s professional career included work as facility manager in wastewater management. Kevin was known for his goofy, funny, and sometimes stubborn spirit. He loved jokes and making others laugh, often unintentionally being the life of the party. His deep love for his family was apparent and his gentle, childlike demeanor earned him comparisons to Peter Pan. His nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephew adored him, affectionately calling him “Body.” Kevin could often be found listening to the best of the 1980’s music or playing his guitar, frequently changing song lyrics to make them funny. He was an outgoing, yet introverted individual who loved watching movies, reading books, and telling stories—sometimes true, sometimes not. His storytelling entertained children and adults endlessly. Above all, Kevin will be remembered as a loyal father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his charming and contagious smile. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father Paul Albert Philbin, II and brother Paul Albert “Trey” Philbin, III.

He is survived by his five children: Tighe and wife Sarah Philbin, Tristan Hendon, Preston Philbin, Treasure Philbin and Eternity Philbin; three grandchildren: Maxton Philbin, Everleigh Philbin and Brielle Philbin; mother Tommie Mae Philbin; sisters: Crystal and husband Ron Parker and Stefanie Helms; nephews: Chandlor Lowrey, Michael Jaden Helms and Matthew Helms; great-nieces and great-nephew: Kaydence Lowery, Isabelle Helms and Alexander Helms.
