Karen Faye Shue, 77, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Houston, Texas, Karen spent her childhood in Ennis before her family settled in Wilmer, Texas. She graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in 1966, where she met the love of her life, David Shue. The two were high school sweethearts and were married on July 1, 1966, beginning a remarkable journey together that would span 60 years. Karen and David were blessed with a daughter and a son, and nothing brought her greater joy than being a wife, mother, and later, grandmother. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren, creating memories, sharing laughter, and spoiling them whenever she could. Her family was her greatest pride and her life's greatest accomplishment. Professionally, Karen built a successful career as a Word Processing Manager. She later earned her associate’s degree from Cedar Valley College. After retiring, she continued working as a bookkeeper. Karen was known for her feisty spirit and plain-spoken honesty. She never hesitated to say exactly what she thought, even when the truth was difficult to hear. But beneath her strong exterior was a deeply loving and protective heart. She fiercely defended those she loved, and no disagreement was ever more important than family. Karen was always the first to remind her family that she loved them and she made sure they always knew where they stood in her heart. One of Karen's greatest blessings was celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary with David just weeks before her passing, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of partnership and love.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Smith and Doris Norie, and her two sisters: Linda Haynes, and Cynthia Costello.
She is survived by her husband David, her children: Stacy Shue, and David Craig Shue and wife Janey, her grandchildren: Whitney Hood, Breanne Richardson, Haley Shue, and Savannah Shue, her great-grandchildren: Kylie Hill, Kynslie Hill, Kash Hill, Addison Richardson, Jaiden Reeves, Kendra Reeves, Ava Kindhart, and Emersyn Mireles, and her brothers: Don Garrett and Robert Norie.
