Jose Mercado Rivera

Jose Mercado Rivera, age 52, of Yerbabuena, San Luis Potosi Mexico passed away on August
18,2022. He was born on April 27,1970 to Juan and Isidra Mercado. Jose grew up in Mexico
and was one of eleven.
At the age of 16, Jose met the love of his life Gloria Nino Medoza. Gloria was not interested, but
Jose was determined to make her his wife in the future. After many rejections, Gloria and Jose
became an official couple in 1989.
Jose and Gloria married on November 10th, 1990. On May 2,1991 Gloria gave birth to Atanacio
“Nacho.” Nacho became Jose’s right-hand man as he grew up admiring Jose’ hard work as a
roofer and provider for the family.
Jose and Gloria’s love continued to grow with a new addition Maria Claudia on May 18, 1993.
Maria grew up admiring her parents' love and support. Her parents continue to be her whole
world. While everyone was accustomed to calling her ‘Maria’, Jose continued to call her
‘Claudia/Calli’.
On October 24, 1996, Jose and Gloria welcomed their pride and joy, Brenda “Panda.” Brenda
brought so much joy and happiness to the growing family.
In 1997 Jose and Gloria decided to embark on a new journey to Dallas, Texas.
Jose began his work as a professional roofer. Anyone that worked with Jose, would say that he
was a friendly, funny, energetic, and hardworking professional. Jose's career started in Texas
but he also traveled from coast to coast for work. Jose was always willing to lend a helping hand
and liked to teach anyone willing to listen how to roof. Jose put pride in his work and took his
time to complete any job. Jose's favorite worker was his son Nacho. Jose taught Nacho how to
roof at a young age and as Nacho grew up, he became his business partner. Jose loved
working with his son as much as possible.
February 16, 2001. Blanca Yasmin was born. Jose called Blanca “mi florecita.” Jose gave his
love of sweets to Blanca. Jose loved to go to the local bakery and take cochinitos to Blanca.
Jose and Gloria had more love to give and on March 23, 2004, Elise Diane “Dianeita” was born.
Ellie loved to watch her dad get ready for work and enjoyed wearing his hat and boots. He was
so proud to call her his littlest girl.
Jose and Gloria kept the love alive and had their 2nd boy William Jose born on March 28, 2010.
“Pepe” was the last addition to the family, and now the family is complete. Jose loved to spend
time with William and watch him play Mario or hang out together. He would always ask him,
‘Quiere papas largas’?
Jose was the comedian of the family, and everyone laughed at his jokes, best ‘dad jokes’. Jose
was a fan and player of baseball. Jose enjoyed watching Animal Planet and his favorite is the
polar bear. Jose liked to listen to Vicente Fernandez or Juan Gabriel any chance he could, and
enjoyed singing along. Jose will be missed dearly, and his memory will continue with the love
and memories from his family.
Jose is preceded in death by his brother Carlos Mercado.
He is survived by the love of his life Gloria, children: Atanacio and Marissa Mercado, Cole and
Maria Knight, Miguel and Brenda Densmore, Enrique and Blanca Loayza, Elise Diane, and
William Jose. Grandchildren; Miyah, Ivan, Teresa, Gloria, Joanna and Patrick. Parents Juan and
Isidra Mercado. Siblings: Patricia, Jesus, Rica, Norberto, Luciano, Margarita, Mario, Alicia, and
Jackie.
