Johnny Lee Murphy, age 73, passed away on March 3, 2026. He was born October 5, 1952, in Ennis, Texas, to Robert Olin Murphy and Edna Viola (Richardson) Murphy. Johnny grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School, Class of 1971.
He married Katherine Elane Rockett on December 1, 1973, just a few short weeks after they met, and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Johnny was most proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Elane, and his children and grandchildren: Jennifer, Brian and wife Christy, Tyler, Samantha, Naythan and wife Stefani, Whitney, Aubrey and husband Colton, and Logan. He was especially proud knowing his family continues to grow.
Johnny enjoyed hard work. He began his career as a mechanic, hauled fuel for many years, and later served as a shop foreman for JT Horn Oil Company, Site Concrete, and RKM/AHR Construction until his retirement.
Johnny believed in honesty and keeping his word. He was kind, genuine, and dependable. Throughout his life, he enjoyed mowing yards, rebuilding dune buggies, and riding his Harley. He often spoke about his favorite old cars, the shenanigans he shared with family and friends, and his travels to Sturgis, Lake Tahoe, and Italy.
He will be remembered as a proud husband, father, and the very best Papa—often seen in starched jeans with a Diet Coke in hand.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28th 4PM - 6 PM at 213 Blueridge, Waxahachie, 75167
