John Harvey Evans, age 68, of Ovilla, Texas passed away July 2, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1955 in Mexia, Texas. John was a proud Texan through and through. He graduated with the class of 1974 and soon after, dedicated himself to serving his country by joining the US Air Force. Known for his exceptional handyman skills, John was a true jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. In 1990, he met the love of his life, Linda Sue Nealy, and they married on July 7, 1990, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, traveling to many destinations like Las Vegas and taking numerous cruise ship vacations. John worked as a truck driver for General Motors, hauling new cars all across the country. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying the lake life with boating and fishing, as well as deer hunting. Cooking was another of John's joys, especially when it came to grilling and making his famous enchiladas. A devoted dog lover, John cherished his time spent with his beloved pets. After retiring, he pursued a new passion and became a licensed auctioneer. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. John had a vibrant personality, enjoying hip-hop and rap music, and always took pride in his appearance, often matching his boots and hat to create a stylish outfit. His love for life, family, and friends will be dearly missed. His legacy of love, skill, and joy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Vergetta Murkledove, affectionately known as Cookie.
He is survived by loving wife Linda Sue Evans of Ovilla, Texas; son Lyndell Banks; daughter Jamika Anderson; two grandchildren: Annastaisa Banks and Lynvon Banks.
