John David Epperson, age 46 of Red Oak, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2025. He was born on February 20, 1979 in Dallas, Texas to David Lee Epperson and Geraldine Mae Smith (Jerri). John grew up in Red Oak and was a lifelong resident of Ellis County, Texas. After his education, he worked as a mechanic and later as a truck driver, enjoying the freedom of the open road until his health no longer allowed it. Known for his big heart and straightforward nature, John was someone who always spoke his mind; and you always knew where you stood with him. He was generous when he could be, often opening his home to friends and family in need and lending a helping hand, even if he was usually running a little late. He loved the thrill of Six Flags and roller coasters, quiet days fishing, and evenings watching the Discovery Channel. When he could, he loved to get away to the Casino. Music was a big part of his life; he loved it loud and full of bass. The occasional concert was something he really enjoyed. He was famous among family for making the ham every holiday season. John will be remembered for his big-hearted nature. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: David and Jerri Epperson; and brother Thomas Lynn Epperson.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca Epperson; children: Michael Ellis, Destiny Allen, Jasmen Epperson and David Epperson; grandchildren: Messiah Jordan and Aurora Jordan; brother Paul and wife Windy Epperson; many aunts and uncles; numerous extended family members and dear friends, and last, but certainly not least, his beloved dog (and best friend), Tank.
