Joe E. Reyes, age 82 passed away at his home in Red Oak, Texas March 8, 2023 after a short illness. He was born in Austin, Texas on August 18, 1941 to Fransisco and Gavina (Espinoza) Reyes. He grew up in City Park and El Poso neighborhoods. Joe went to Germany where he served in the US Army until October 7, 1963. He served in the honor guard during this time as well. He became a registered nurse and also obtained a degree as a COTA. He met Marie while in Navarro College nursing school and two years after graduating asked her to marry him. Joe spent most of his life in the Dallas area until marrying Marie and they made their home in Red Oak, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Marcus, Frank and Tony; sisters: Annie, Virginia, Irene, Rosita and Rosa.
He leaves behind his wife of 32 years Marie Reyes; three children born to he and his first wife Janet: Mike and wife Colleen Reyes , Rebecca Reyes and Richard Reyes; two step sons: Zachary Rogers and Jonathan and wife Laura Rogers; grandchildren: Sean Reyes, Megan Reyes, Spencer Reyes, Aleena Rogers, Adrian Rogers; great-grandson Aiden Heflin; sister Lidia Sanchez and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers: Michael Valladares. Joe Valladares, Jr., James Schell, Jeff Cly, Sean Reyes, Cameron Heflin, and Mike Reyes.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, March 13, 2023 at Green Funeral Home, Red Oak.
Rosary will be 6:30 PM Monday, March 13, 2023 at Green Funeral Home, Red Oak.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Green Funeral Home, Red Oak. Deacon Steve Pina officiating.
Interment will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at LaSalle Cemetery, Groesbeck, Texas.
