Joe Dewayne Newton, age 68 of Midlothian, Texas passed away on March 21, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas to Arthur David and Pearl Louise (Ross) Newton; and he is survived by his brother Charles Newton of Austin, Texas. Joe was a lifelong mechanic at heart, a man who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for working with his hands began in the early 1970s while attending Paschal High School in Fort Worth, when he started working at a local service station. There, he learned the ins and outs of automotive work, performing maintenance, and repairing vehicles. That early experience shaped a career and passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Over the years, Joe continued working at various service stations, becoming highly skilled in both auto mechanics and equipment repair. In the early 1990s, Joe moved to Midlothian, Texas and joined his longtime friend, Tom Heartwell, at Midway auto salvage and car crashing. Upon Tom’s retirement in 2014, Joe began working with Gene (Red) Rutherford at Red‘s Car Crushing where his reliability, knowledge, and strong work ethic were deeply valued. Joe was known for his kind and genuine nature. He had an easygoing personality, a great sense of humor, and a quiet strength that carried him through life’s challenges. He was hardworking, always busy, and never one to shy away from a problem, especially if it meant figuring out how to fix it. Friends and family knew they could count on Joe to have an answer or a solution. Outside of work, Joe enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved attending drag races in Kennedale and at other local venues, where the roar of engines and the thrill of speed brought him joy. His taste in music was as diverse as his personality he appreciated classic country, the sounds of the 1960s, and even artists like Ozzy Osbourne. Joe was fortunate to share his last few years of life with Maria Collazo. She brought joy to his heart and a smile to his face. Joe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his mechanical talent, his humor, and most of all, his kind and genuine spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, skill, and quiet generosity that will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Green Funeral Home Red -Oak, Texas.
