Jason Payne Obituary

Jason Corey Payne, age 53 of Red Oak, Texas passed away on December 18, 2024. Born on October 17, 1971 in Dallas, Texas he was the son of Arvin Payne and Patricia Pritchett. Jason grew up near Mesquite, Texas and graduated from Poteet High School. After high school, he embarked on an adventure with his sister Victoria to Hilton Head, South Carolina. There, they shared a love for mountain climbing and outdoor exploration. Jason worked as a prep chef in a local restaurant, honing his culinary skills and developing his love for cooking. Returning to Texas, Jason started his family and briefly worked in house leveling. A devoted father, he was involved with his son’s Cub Scout activities, creating lasting memories through camping and shared adventures. Jason had a passion for carving wood, journaling, writing poetry, and finding peace in nature walks and hikes. Known for his humor and warmth, he could light up any room. He was fearless, kindhearted, and generous, making friends wherever he went and holding none as enemies. A free spirit at heart, Jason embraced life with a hippie’s soul, finding joy in dancing to any beat with a deep appreciation for all genres of music, especially the ethereal sounds of Pink Floyd. Jason loved to cook, and his chicken-fried steaks were legendary among family. His adventurous spirit, love of laughter, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arvin and Patricia Payne.

He is survived by his children: Patrick and Karson; brother Clifton and wife Stacey Payne; sister Victoria and husband Stephen Vajo; uncle Nick Pritchett, aunt Deborah Pritchett and aunt Terry Bookman; niece Cassie Payne and nephew Chad Payne; along with numerous friends and family who cherished him.

A celebration of Jason’s life will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1020 East Rd., Midlothian, TX 76065.

In honor of Jason, share a meal, dance to your favorite song, or take a walk in nature—just as he would have loved.

“Shine on, you crazy diamond.”
