James Lynn McDonell

James Lynn “Bubba” McDonell, age 49 of Red Oak, Texas passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born April 12, 1976 in Dallas, Texas to Frankie Lynn McDonell and Sandra Jean Wilson. James began his career in construction alongside his uncle, specializing in flooring before later working with stucco. He was known for his resourcefulness, and the pride he took in every project he completed. James had a lifelong love of bowling and was especially gifted at pool. As a member of the American Poolplayers Association, he competed on several teams, winning tournaments and earning a reputation as a fierce competitor. Among his accomplishments were his matches in Las Vegas, Nevada where he never lost a single game. In 2000, James met the love of his life Amanda Renee Davis. The two married on February 14, 2003, and shared more than two decades of love and devotion. Together they built a family centered on love, laughter, and loyalty. James was a dedicated husband and father who loved his children deeply and never missed an opportunity to put family first. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast, often enjoying rides with local VFW groups. James loved the open road, the thrill of a good ride, and the camaraderie of his fellow riders. He had a soft spot for animals and cared deeply for his fur babies, who were always a part of his family circle. James was a man who spoke his mind, loved his people fiercely, and lived with a big heart. He enjoyed country music and classic rock. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend whose spirit and generous heart will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Frankie and Sandra McDonell. 

He survived by wife Amanda Renee McDonell; children: son Dakota Davis, daughter Destiny Davis and partner Michael Kennedy, and son Brett McDonell; sis Peggy and husband Tim; nephews: Derrick and Christian; as well as other extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 12, 2025 at Green Funeral Home - Red Oak, TX.
