James McCutcheon Obituary

James Burr McCutcheon, age 80 of Red Oak, Texas passed away Thursday, November 10th, 2022, at Baylor Scott and White in Waxahachie, Texas around 11 AM following an extended illness. He was born January 6th, 1942, in Weston, West Virginia to the late Glen and Agnes Lorain McCutcheon. James grew up and graduated from Lewis County High School in 1961. Following high school, he worked as a Coal Miner in West Virginia. James then enlisted in the Army in 1963 to 1966. Serving three years, he was a Vietnam Veteran. He drove an armored personnel carrier; he disarmed bombs and booby traps and was a medal sharpshooter. After his term in the military James worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after 38 years. During his time at the postal service, he met and married the love of his life, Maria E Avila, on April 15, 1978. James loved to rebuild old classic cars often you would find him at the drag races. He loved swap meets. James traveled to West Virginia for his class reunion. He loved flying remote airplanes and visiting gun shows. He loved to spend time hanging out with his friends from Cowtown Mopar, and listening to old county music.

James is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Judith D. McCutcheon, Mary K. McCutcheon, and Barbara L. Wilt; a niece Casie R. Roupe; a nephew Chuckie Roupe, a great niece Michelle L. Sprouse; three stepbrothers: George McCutcheon, John Junior Strader and Thomas Goldsmith.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria; children: Michael and wife Jennifer McCutcheon of GA, Diana and husband Scott Dearing of TX, and Deborah L. Goodman of TX; grandchildren: Alyssa McCutcheon, Ashton McCutcheon, Avery Deuel, Ayden Goodman, Matthew Dearing, Mitchell Dearing, sisters: Joetta and husband Darrell Clem of WV, Linda and husband Merced Cantu of WV, Carnellia and husband Jim Perry of WV, Debroah Metz of WV and niece Diana Stephens and husbsnd Mike of TX, James L. McCutcheon of WV as well as several other nieces and nephews he dearly loved.
