James Lee Lampier went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the age of 82. He was a patient at Legend Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born on August 15, 1941, to Leslie Lampier and Veltie Marie (Jordan) Lampier.
He graduated from Ferris High School in 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served four years. During that time, he married the love of his life, Alice Wanda Barnett on August 24, 1962. He became a father to his first born, Donald Wayne Lampier, on November 10,
1963. He and Wanda welcomed their daughter, Malea Len Lampier, on November 27, 1967.
James, Wanda and their children resided in Ferris, Texas for many many years. While residing in Ferris, he coached little league baseball and football with his longtime friend Bill Hathcock. It was no secret that James "loved his sports." Many of you here today can attest to that. In the late 70's and early 80's he also coached and played softball for the First Baptist Church of Ferris, Texas.
James became to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after meeting Wanda. She led him to the Lord and after professing his salvation, he was baptized. While living in Ferris, he attended the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and for several years drove the church bus.
In December of 1989, James and Wanda moved to Lancaster, Texas where they lived out the rest of their years together. After Wanda passed away in March of 2014, James moved back to Ferris in 2017 where he lived with his daughter Malea and son-in-law Michael Moffitt. He remained there until illness led him to Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Waxahachie, TX, which is where he spent his final days.
James is preceded in death by his father Leslie Lampier and mother Veltie Marie (Jordan) Lampier, and his wife Alice Wanda Lampier. He is survived by his son Donald Wayne Lampier and wife Lauren Lampier, daughter Malea Lampier Moffitt and husband Michael Moffitt, brother Donald Lampier and wife Linda Lampier, brother Gene Lampier and wife Watheenia Lampier, granddaughter Raelen Raegan and husband Robert Raegan, granddaughter Jordann Hernandez, granddaughter Jenae Oliver and husband Mark Oliver, grandson Landon Lampier and wife Meghan Lampier, granddaughter Lainey Schulte and husband Jordan Schulte, granddaughter Lindsey Moffitt, grandson Chase Moffitt and nine great grandchildren; Rhys, Rosalie, Cade Roy, Cadee, Jessie, Wyleigh, Tucker, Luken and Hudson.
