Israel “Izzy” Trevino, Jr. Obituary

Israel “Izzy” Trevino Jr., age 61, of Midlothian, Texas entered eternal rest on June 18, 2025. He was born November 5, 1963 in Waxahachie, Texas to Israel Trevino Sr. and Guadalupe Garcia. He is preceded in death by his mother Lupe and infant sister Connie. He is survived by his father, Lee Trevino, loving wife Cherie; children: Gary and wife Rachel Trevino, Erica and husband Roland Paredez, daughters Nikki Trevino and Victoria Trevino; grandchildren: Luke, Ella, Layla, Riley, Evelyn and Elena; brother Freddy Trevino; numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Izzy was a proud graduate of DeSoto High School, Class of 1982. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University. He dedicated himself to his family and his career as an accountant. Izzy recently celebrated two decades of service with his company. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality.

Izzy was quite a storyteller, much like his father. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, especially when telling jokes, and loved clowning around. Izzy enjoyed sports, and especially loved playing softball, bowling, and golf. A true sports fan, he cheered faithfully for the Dallas Cowboys, even though his wife is a dedicated Saints fan. Can you imagine what game day looked like when the teams played one another? There's a sign in their home with the Cowboys on one side and the Saints on the other which states, "A House Divided." He was also a huge Texas Rangers fan and felt blessed to watch them win the World Series. Izzy, a self-proclaimed talented grill master, loved to cook for his family. Backyard pool parties with Izzy on the grill were frequent events.

He shared a beautiful life with Cherie, his beloved wife of 32 years. Their love was evident in the traditions they built together, especially their yearly anniversary celebrations, and also their annual Halloween parties, complete with over-the-top costumes and decorations. Together they built a lifetime of of love and memories raising their family and enjoying unforgettable trips, including Disneyland, cruises and most recently a breathtaking trip to Seattle, Canada, and Alaska.

Izzy was really a home body, but still loved family opportunities to experience fun and unique activites with loved ones. Izzy was looking forward to yet another experience next week; a journey with family to the Michigan Cherry Festival. Izzy adored his four children and six grandchildren. He beamed with pride watching them grow, and especially loved watching their games or concerts. He was overjoyed at every milestone they accomplished. Izzy was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was a genuine friend, a faithful wingman, a devoted husband, a proud father, and a playful, loving PawPaw. He was one of a kind, generous, loyal, full of heart, and quick witted. The love he gave and the memories he made will live on in the many lives he touched. His journey on this earth was marked by fun, adventure, compassion, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

His passing has left a void in our hearts of all who knew and loved him. The family asks that you remember him not for the way that he died, but for the way he lived and loved, and for the profound impact he made on the lives of those that loved him. Although his physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
