Ignacio "Nacho" Gomez, age 22 passed away suddenly at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas during an athletic training session. Nacho was a talented young man that achieved many things during his time at Ferris ISD and beyond. Some of these accomplishments at FISD include: Class of 2017 Graduate; 2017 Homecoming King; 2016 Soccer MVP; 2016 Football MVP; All District 2nd Team kicker; All District 1st Team punter; Honors Band member, he was a talented trombone player and song writer- during freshman year, he and his friend Josue Sanchez wrote “Jossuacho Loco”. It was played at halftime at YellowJacket Stadium. "Nacho" Gomez went on to marry fellow FISD graduate, Fatima Mendez and attended Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. He was the Lyon's senior kicker & punter. "He was a three-time All-Conference standout for the Scots in the Sooner Athletic Conference (2018, 2019) & the Central States Football League (2017). Nacho is the Lyon All-Time leader in 16 special teams categories including points, field goals made, and punts. Nacho touched our lives in so many ways and brightened our days with his smile and positivity. He made a lasting impression in Jacket Nation that will live on through the legacy of excellence he helped create.
