Hollis Cecil Ragland Jr

Hollis Cecil Ragland Jr., age 79 of Ferris, Texas passed away January 20, 2023. He was born May 1, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to the late Hollis Cecil Ragland Sr and Annie Louise Wade. Mr. Ragland grew up in the south side of Dallas and attended Crozier Tech High School; after he joined the US Army and served two years. When his military service was completed, he returned to Dallas and began his family and started driving semi-trucks. He drove until his retirement from the Teamsters Local Union 745. When his children were young, he loved to cook for them and make them breakfast. He loved watching his son Trey play football and cherished all the memories he had of him. His always enjoying the beach and the sun together.

Hollis loved to be in the sunshine. His children recall him taking them on vacation to Galveston Beach when they were younger. Mr. Ragland loved fishing, Family Reunions at Cedar Creek Lake and spending the holidays or any other occasion where all of his family was present.  In his retirement He could often be found working on his antique cars, listening to classic country music and Elvis. He loved old western shows and movies or anything with John Wayne, he saw most of them hundreds of times. One of his greatest passions was antique cars; he loved buying, restoring and selling cars. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He has preceded in death by his parents Hollis Cecil Ragland Sr. and Annie Louise Abbott; sister Anna Ruth Chisholm; sister Shirley Pleake and beloved son Hollis Cecil “Trey” Ragland, III.

He is survived by his loving children: Mitchell Wade Ragland, Dana Marie Driggars of Ferris, and Fabian and wife Sharon Chapel of Fort Worth; mother of his children Elaine Morris of Bedford; grandson Dexter Hollis Chapel; granddaughter Gwendolyn Eve Chapel; sister Gloria Yarborough of Gun Barrel City, Linda Carol and husband Bill, Olsen of Garland; along with other extended family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank niece Cathy Chisholm and family for their loving care and special attention over the years.
